Deputy Principal's Message

Volunteer Child Safety Requirements
As part of the new Child Safety Standards and obligations introduced by Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS), all parents and carers wishing to volunteer at school, including assisting with excursions, classroom activities, P&F events and other school programs, will be required to complete an updated Child Safety Briefing, even if they have completed one previously.
In addition, volunteers may be asked to provide referee details as part of our suitability checks to ensure all adults working with children meet current child safety requirements. These processes support our commitment to providing a safe and supportive environment for all students.
Further information regarding Child Safe Standards, volunteer suitability checks and Working with Children requirements will be discussed at the child safety briefing.
VIT-registered teacher, Registered psychologists or Police Officers have completed a mandatory child safety briefing as part of their professional expectations, so will not be required to attend; however, you will complete the other requirements of the volunteer process.
Please email me at vpirrotta@sfmoreland.catholic.edu.au if you work in one of those industries and would like to volunteer at St. Fidelis, and I will arrange to complete the next part of the process.
Any parent who would like to volunteer in any capacity at St. Fidelis must attend a child safety briefing.
If you do not attend the briefings this term or next term, you will not be able to volunteer.
Child Safety briefings will be held on the following dates, with more to occur later in the term
- Friday 15th May 10 am - STEM space
- Wednesday 20th May - 9 am STEM space
- Monday 25th May 2:30 pm STEM space
We look forward to seeing you all there.
Have a lovely week
