Student Wellbeing

Let’s Dive Into Resilience
Research in positive education highlights the importance of gratitude, empathy and mindfulness in supporting children’s wellbeing and resilience. Studies published in the Journal of Positive Psychology and related educational research show that when students regularly engage in these practices, they are more likely to experience stronger emotional regulation, improved social relationships and a greater sense of belonging at school.
Gratitude helps students notice positive experiences and build a more balanced outlook. Empathy supports understanding of others’ perspectives and strengthens relationships.
Mindfulness helps students develop awareness of their thoughts and emotions, supporting calm and considered responses in challenging situations. Together, these skills contribute to the development of resilience and long-term wellbeing.
Throughout our TRP and Emotional Literacy learning, students are developing the ability to recognise, understand and express emotions in healthy and constructive ways. Through explicit teaching, discussions and reflective activities, students are learning to identify different emotional states, understand what might cause them, and practise strategies to manage their responses. A strong focus is placed on building emotional vocabulary so students can accurately describe how they are feeling and better understand the feelings of others. These skills are supported through structured opportunities to practise empathy, active listening and respectful communication in both classroom and peer interactions. By strengthening emotional literacy, students are also building resilience, improving relationships and developing greater self-awareness, all of which support positive wellbeing and learning engagement.
We thank families for your continued support in nurturing student wellbeing and for working in partnership with us to support positive school experiences for all children.
