the houses go head to head

BSC Athletics Carnival

Richard Andrew

Sport Coordinator

The BSC Athletics carnival was a great way to finish up Term 1 sports and although weather was not on our side, it was excellent to see so many students accept the challenge and compete gallantly for their houses.

We again had a record number of participants at the Mooney Valley Athletics Centre, the house pride was a huge feature of the day. Oro (Gold) took out the Brunswick Bell - making it 2 years in a row! Oro had a huge number of participants across all year levels which led to a commanding victory.

At athletics day, I participated in 400 meters and 100 meters. I came first in both! My time for 400m was 1 minute and 15 seconds and 100m it was 15.7 seconds. My house was ORO (gold) and it won! I also had a great time with my friends.

I enjoyed the athletics day - especially the couple of seconds of sunshine that came along! It was interesting that Cagaar got second place on the day. I thought we would get last place because not a lot of people from Cagaar competed in the events.

It was really fun trying out different events and doing different things. It was interesting to watch the Year 10 and 11 students compete in events because they were more serious about athletics and were good, especially at high jump and the sprints.

I enjoyed doing all the events like the discus and the 400m. It was good when the rain came even though we had to pause the events. I enjoyed hanging out with my friends and I liked the barbecue.

Even though it was cold, the Athletics Carnival was a blast. Students everywhere - running, jumping and sprinting! Even though Abyad (the best house) didn't win on the day, it was still extremely fun to compete, play and hang around with friends.

The carnival was great, especially the rain because it was fun running around going back to the stand/shade area.  The barbecue was good and the discus, shotput and high jump were fun events.

I enjoyed the 100m and the 400m events even though we had to run against the wind! My favourite field event was long jump and high jump. The weather was not good but we had a great barbecue! The Athletics Carnival was a lot of fun.

I enjoyed trying out different sports and challenging myself throughout the day.

It was good to cheer on my friends and see how other people did In high jump, long jump and other events. I also really enjoyed just having the time to talk with my friends and meet other people from school.
