Year 12 Sport and Recreation

Mr Brendan Kiernan

The Golf Day at Keperra Country Golf Club turned out to be a great success on Wednesday 22 March. Wet weather held off, temperatures were a very comfortable mid-20s, and the course was in very good condition. Most enjoyable.

After a slow start on the 1st hole (nerves), the boys got in the groove and started to enjoy themselves and hit some good golf shots. Playing a two-ball Ambrose helped speed up play and ensure the day was enjoyed by all. Golf etiquette was respectful and safe, although the scoring for some was a bit dubious. One group submitted a card with an eagle on a par 5! Maybe not from what I observed.

The overall winners of the day were the pairing of Darcy Woodroffe and Xavier Evans. Xavier nearly missed the day but made a late run to catch the bus after being unwell. In a close and competitive second place was the group of Harry Cunningham, Munroe Wood, and Josh King. A quick stop at the 19th hole (McDonald's/KFC) and the day was done.

Potentially, a few boys will play a round or two in the future; work social golf day, catch up with mates, or even a game with mum and dad! Some photos below for your interest.

At this stage, the next major activity for the Sport and Recreation course will be the Adventure Camp proposed for Term 3. More details to come on that event.

Special thanks to Keperra Golf Pro, Peter Zealley (Husband of secondary teacher Justine Natoli) for making this happen and booking the boys on the front nu of the Old Course. The boys have been terrific throughout the course, and today was another example of their commitment and genuine engagement. It makes everything so much easier!
