Year 5/6 Beach Program

Last week both our Year 5 and 6 students were lucky enough to be involved in our Beach Program with BAYPLAY down at Beaumaris Life Saving Club. The students experienced activities such as snorkelling, kayaking, rock rambling, investigating creatures in a touch tank as well as enjoying a lovely coastal walk, beach art, lifesaving drills and team building games.

The weather was perfect with crystal clear waters and no wind. The students were given a chance to experience the bay at its best with some seeing both Banjo sharks and a Port Jackson sharks whilst snorkelling. Christian K (6B) reported that he enjoyed just floating in the water and letting the current take him.

YEAR 5

The program was introduced to give the senior students an experience outside the comforts of a lap pool and challenge them to use their swimming skills in a natural environment that is forever changing. It was a great way to experience our local beaches with an underwater perspective (snorkelling) of how our marine life is thriving (or not) in the marine sanctuary.

YEAR 6

The students enjoyed working in groups, being a part of our community and sharing stories with instructors, learning about our local beaches as well as having lots of fun. We were given facts about the bay and the area we live in, and how as a younger generation, we need to start making changes now to save our environment.

Sports Expo (Year 5 & 6)

On Friday 22 March, the Year 5 & 6 students all had a great time learning new skills and dance moves with some expert fitness/dance instructors from Coach Approach. We enjoyed sport aerobics, fitness, hip hop and circus skills. The staff had a lot of fun too!
