SSAV Golf

Last Friday, Year 10 Student Matilda Dunn competed in the School Sport Association of Victoria Golf Tournament.

Despite Matilda thinking she didn’t play her best golf, she finished 3rd in her section, which is a fantastic result – well done Matilda!

Kilbreda Girls- Umpiring at the MCG

On Sunday 24 April, six students were lucky enough to umpire the AFL Auskick participants at half time at the MCG on the eve of ANZAC Day.

The atmosphere was incredible. There were 70,000 people there to watch football and acknowledge and remember the many people who have sacrificed their lives during the war. We were very lucky to be so close to the official part of the ceremony. The girls met their Auskick group during the second quarter and were ready to come out during the half time break. They were all super excited. They did a great job at umpiring the game, giving everybody a chance to touch the ball, ensuring that the young kids were not tackling each other too much and encouraging throughout the game.

There was much excitement back in the rooms after the game when each Auskick group gave each student umpire  a “huge cheer”! Congratulations to Sian Francis, Lily Proudfoot Napier, Amelia Presnell, Elizabeth Pound, Teagan Johnson and Jacinta Crowley.

There are a few more games on offer over the next few rounds of the AFL season. We look forward to sharing some photos with you.

3 v 3 Basketball

On Tuesday, Hannah Wickstrom, Ella Wickstrom, Ella Razga and Maddi Torpey represented the College in the Victorian Schools 3 v 3 Championships. As it was the first time for some and the first time in a while for others, having played in a 3 v 3 competition (and the rules are quite different to normal basketball) there were a few nerves relating to how the game would actually run. It didn’t take long for the team to pick it up and they worked very well together, winning four of their five round games. They certainly upped their game for the finals with easy wins in the quarter and semi-finals. The grand final saw a rematch against basketball academy school, Templestowe College who we had lost to earlier in the day. The team battled hard but Templestowe were just too good on the day. I congratulate the team for their efforts and amazing results!

VSAC

Next Monday, Mia Hayden (Year 10) and Kate Golby (Year 9) will be representing the SCSA (Secondary Catholic Sports Association) in the Victorian Schools Association Championships at MSAC. The event will see the best swimmers from each association swim against each other and Kate and Mia were selected following their great results at the SCSA carnival in Term 1. Good luck Kate and Mia!

SCSA Basketball

Good luck to the SCSA Basketball teams who will be competing in the Division 1 competition at MSAC next Monday.
