Autumn Soiree

During Term 1, Kilbreda’s instrumental music students worked very hard in their practice and rehearsals to prepare for the Autumn Soiree.  It was somewhat earlier than usual this year, to make up for the Christmas Concert which was cancelled due to the sudden and very sad passing of Mrs Liberatore.

The students were all very excited to finally be able to perform once again after two very challenging and disrupted years. I am pleased to report that our Music Program is flourishing now more than ever, with over 100 students participating in Music lessons and playing in ensembles, and a further 50 plus in the Year 7 and 8 Choir and Senior Choir.

The Soiree included many of these young performers in ensembles such as Middle Orchestra, Senior Ensemble, String Ensemble, Brass Ensemble, Guitar Ensemble, both Choirs and some wonderful solo vocal performances. The VCE Music class students also performed a rendition of “Havana”.

It was quite a full house, and audience feedback indicated that it was a most enjoyable concert, and how lovely it was to see everybody performing music again.

High School Musical Jr

Rehearsals are well underway for our Junior production of High School Musical Jr.  The cast and crew are making excellent progress, and really enjoying the challenge and interaction of rehearsals.

Annual Music Camp

Only three weeks now until our annual Music Camp at Don Bosco Camp, Safety Beach.  The camp runs from Thursday 26 May until Friday 27 May and involves most of our Music students engaging in intensive ensemble rehearsals which culminate in our Winter Musicale concert in June.  The students are always very excited about attending Music Camp, and it is lots of fun, while they also develop their technical and performance skills to a much higher level. The notices will be posted on PAM very soon.

Parent Communication

Parents/guardians of Music students are reminded that either Ms Hilliard or the relevant music tutor must be notified at least 24 hours in advance of an absence from a timetabled music lesson, for the missed lesson to be rescheduled and made up.  One term’s written notice is required to discontinue lessons. If notification does not meet the agreed timeframe, Kilbreda is unable to refund any tuition fees.  These conditions are stipulated on the signed enrolment form at the outset.
