Law School Mooting Competition – La Trobe University

On Wednesday 28th August, a group of year 11 legal Studies students participated in the Law School Mooting Competition at La Trobe University Law School. Students includes Olivia Abernathy, Lachlan Angelovski, Adbul Wabid Baqi, Olivia Cookson, Mohamad Dannaoui, Melike Karakaya,, Klementina Kuzmanoska, Nour Maqsodi, Rea Masioti, Sara Shami and Netakria Souroulia.

There over 30 teams participating in the competition from schools around Victoria. The three teams competed all day using their legal research, reasoning and advocacy skills. Students were well prepared and delivered excellent submissions competing as prosecutors and defence lawyers to mock murder trial. Our school competed against three schools; St Monica College, Reservoir High School and St Aloysius College. At the end of the day, Nour was awarded the Best Advocate Award for the day and our school received the Best Teamwork Award. The competition was fierce but our students were amazing and showed great skill and courage. While our teams did not make the finals, we were ranked in the top ten schools of the competition as a whole.

All eleven students should be commended on their outstanding efforts. They performed as advocates at the highest level and demonstrated pride when representing our school. Thank you to Ms Gulbayrak for her work in supporting and preparing students for the day.

Well done and congratulations to all on an excellent effort and achievement!
