Principal's Address

We have reached the bitter-sweet time of the year when we commence our farewells to Year 12. A very successful and enjoyable Music 1 HSC Showcase evening and the HSC Drama Performance Examination were also held last week and the HSC Music 1 Performance Examination is scheduled for next Tuesday. HSC Major Works in Design and Technology and Visual Arts have been completed and HSC Markers will be on site from next week. Formal classes for all Year 12 students conclude next Tuesday and from Wednesday line days will provide concentrated time blocks for study for the cohort.

The Leadership Team has met with Year 12 House Groups for their special luncheons together and preparations are well underway for the Final Assembly, Year 12 Graduation Mass and Awards evening on Thursday 26 September. While we wish them every blessing as they leave Mater Dei and are excited for all that lies ahead, it is always difficult to say good bye to the graduating class. The final newsletter for this term, to be published in Week 10, will provide a tribute to Year 12.

As our current Year 12 cohort is reaching the end of their HSC year, Year 11 is about to embark on this journey. They have completed the Studies of Religion HSC Trial Examination and are currently undertaking the End of Preliminary Course Examinations. In preparation for their role as student leaders, the Year 11 Leadership Day was held last term and the process of appointing new student leaders for 2020 is underway. Please keep all those who nominate for a student leadership role in your prayers:

Loving God

We thank you for the gift of our Mater Dei College community

And for the community that is your body, the Church.

Fill us with your Spirit today so that, as one, we reflect

Your light and love to each other and the world.

Give all who seek student leadership roles wisdom, discernment and courage.

In Christ we pray,

Amen

As indicated in the last newsletter, the names of the incoming College Captains and House Captains will be announced at the Year 12 Final Assembly.
