The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Last Sunday, 8 September, we celebrated the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a Christian Feast Day celebrating the birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary. We celebrate this event as a liturgical feast in the Church Calendar, nine months after the solemnity of her Immaculate Conception, on 8 December.

On Our Lady's birthday the Church acknowledges the Blessed Virgin who occupies a unique place in our history, a remarkable woman who accepted the  highest order of mission as the ‘first disciple’.

The Mater Dei Community honours Mary as our spiritual mother, drawing great strength from Mary’s grace, humility and commitment to God’s promise. We can learn much from the life of Mary and be inspired by the way she lived her life as a servant leader.

Gracious God,

You chose Mary for a special purpose,

to be the mother of your son

and Mary responded with trust and faith.

May we also be spirit-filled people,

filled with such joy and trust,

ready to respond to your invitation

to a life, lived in the Spirit.

We ask this in Jesus’ name.

Amen.

Year 12 Graduation Mass - 26 September, 6pm

We respectfully invite parents, carers and family members to celebrate our Year 12 Graduating Class with a Eucharistic Liturgy on Thursday evening, 26 September, commencing at 6pm. Please be seated by 5.45pm.

The theme of our Mass is ‘You are the Light of the World’ which connects beautifully with the teachings of Ignatius Loyola, explored during our Year 12 Retreat, earlier in the year. Here, students pondered the challenge of ‘going forth, to set the world on fire’.

As our Year 12 Students prepare themselves to face the challenges of the HSC and life beyond the School Community, we take this opportunity to remind them that wherever their journey leads, they carry the light of Christ in their hearts and minds forever.

A light supper and the Year 12 Awards Evening will follow the Mass. We look forward to celebrating the journey and successes of our graduating class with you in a few weeks time.
