Drama

Year 9

The Year 9 Drama class have spent Term 3 learning about the Documentary Theatre form and developing their Playbuilding skills. In groups, they have chosen an issue to address and conducted research through finding online sources and data and conducting interviews. Students will perform these in the last weeks of term.

Year 10

Critical analysis has been the focus of this term and a highlight was our trip to Sydney to see the productions Muriel’s Wedding and Lord of the Flies. Students have been working on their ability to critique theatre and consolidate their understanding of the Elements of Drama.

Year 11

Playbuilding has been the major focus for Year 11 as well as developing an understanding of Epic Theatre and Brechtian conventions and techniques. The students have been working on a devised performance focusing on a mental health issue of interest to them. We have also been lucky to have clinical psychologist John Dean visit the students to assist with their research. These devised performances will be remounted at the Dramatic Minds Festival in Temora next term.

Year 12

HSC Drama students have had a busy term refining their group performance and individual projects. They completed their practical examinations in Week 7 to a supportive student audience who had nothing but praise for the performers. Now the focus is on preparation for the written examinations.
