Students - Academic Care and Wellbeing

As we approach the end of Term 3 we begin to prepare for our final weeks with Year 12 2019 and start to prepare Year 11 students for their roles as student leaders of the College.

The College and House Captain 2020 Leadership application process is almost complete. Applicants presented their speeches to their peers, and voting has been finalised. More recently, each applicant went through an interview process. The calibre of each applicant was impressive and no doubt finalising the appointments to formal leadership positions for 2020 will be difficult.

Fortunately, there are many leadership opportunities offered at the College and those who miss out on an appointment within this process will have many other opportunities presented to them should they wish to take these on.

Our Year 12 Final Assembly is on Thursday 26 September. The day will begin with a Year 12 Breakfast at 8.15am at the College Café. Year 12 Parents are invited to attend the Assembly and will need to be seated in the Hall by 11.30am.  It is at this College Assembly that our 2019 Captains will hand over their leadership roles to the newly appointed 2020 House and College Captains.

We look forward to celebrating the contribution that each of our Year 12 students have made and wishing them well as they approach this significant milestone and head towards post-school life.

Student Representative Council (SRC) Update

Many thanks to Mrs Lewis for all her work and support of our SRC students so far this year. Along with regular involvement in Parish Masses and College liturgies, our SRC students have been busy with a number of initiatives this term:

Year 9 and 10: Legacy Badge selling

Thank you to our Years 9 and 10 SRC students who volunteered to help out during Legacy Week and sold badges last Friday at Lake Village Shopping Centre. Students were presented with a certificate of recognition from Legacy, on the day.

Please find below the Legacy Wagga Wagga vote of thanks:

Year 10:  Raising Awareness for ‘R U OK? Day’

Trust the Signs, Trust your Gut and Ask R U OK?

Thursday, September 12 was ‘R U OK Day’, a national day of action dedicated to reminding people to ask family, friends and colleagues the question, ‘R U OK?’ in a meaningful way.

Our SRC were keen to highlight the importance of regular, meaningful conversation as a way to foster connections and build a sense of community and belonging. Members of our Year 10 SRC planned and hosted an awareness raising event held during recess on Thursday, September 12 in the College Peace Garden. Prayers for Homegroup during the week also focused on the important message of learning how to ask ‘RUOK?’

 Year 11: Senior Jumper Committee

Our Year 11  ‘Jumper Committee’ met this term to plan and design the Year 12 Jumpers for the Year 12 2020 cohort. More recently, Year 11 voted for their favourite design, and the design with the highest number of votes was announced to Year 11 students last Friday.

Many thanks to all students and families for the very positive response to our requests around finalising payments and orders. We will hopefully have your MDCC Senior jumpers issued to you by the end of Term 4, 2019!
