Sustainability

This year has been a remarkable one for the Sustainability Club, filled with meaningful projects, environmental action, and strong community spirit. Our students worked tirelessly on a range of initiatives, including tree-planting within the local community, helping to regenerate the Bandicoot Trail near Nalinggu, and continuing the ongoing care and improvement of Tiddalik, our much-loved school garden and wetland space. Each project not only strengthened our environment but also deepened students’ understanding of the impact they can have when they commit to sustainable change.

Beyond the hands-on work, the Sustainability Club has been an important space for students to feel a sense of belonging. It has brought together young people who share a passion for sustainability, gardening, and caring for the environment, giving them a supportive group where their interests are valued. Having a dedicated space to gather has been key to building this community—somewhere students can collaborate, connect, and contribute with confidence.

Throughout the year, friendships have flourished, and genuine connections have developed between students and staff. Whether working side by side pulling weeds, planting seedlings, or planning new initiatives, members have created a positive, welcoming environment where everyone feels included. This sense of connection has become a hallmark of the club and one of its greatest strengths.

Leadership opportunities have also played an important role in the club’s success. Students have been encouraged to take the lead on projects, guide their peers, and represent sustainability values across the school. These experiences have enabled them to demonstrate real growth, developing responsibility, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills that will benefit them well beyond their time at KWRSC.

Overall, this year’s achievements reflect the passion, effort, and commitment of all involved. The Sustainability Club continues to be a place where students can make a difference, grow as individuals, and contribute to a stronger, greener future for our school and community.
