Year 7 Report

Year 7 - Year in Review

Our Year 7 students have had an exceptional and values-driven beginning to their secondary school journey, consistently demonstrating Connection, Respect and Growth as they settled into high school and became positive contributors to our school community.

The Year 7 Camp helped establish a strong sense of belonging and teamwork within the cohort. Students showed meaningful Connection by forming new friendships, supporting one another and working collaboratively throughout every activity. Their behaviour reflected genuine Respect for each other, the environment and themselves, with camp staff praising them as a considerate and impressive group. The camp also highlighted remarkable Growth, with students stepping outside their comfort zones, trying unfamiliar challenges and cheering on their peers as they embraced new experiences.

Throughout the year, the Values Awards continued to acknowledge students who consistently modelled connection, respect and growth in their learning and relationships. Wellbeing programs, such as Speak & Share and Project Rockit, further strengthened this culture by helping students reflect on their identity, mental health, and the importance of positive peer support. Year 7 students engaged with maturity and empathy, contributing to a connected and supportive year-level community.

Our Year 7 Student Leaders and the broader Junior Student Representative Council (SRC) played a key role in shaping student voice across the school. The SRC has long been a driving force for positive change, influencing initiatives around sustainability, student wellbeing and school policy. This year, our Junior SRC Leaders stepped up by sharing their ideas, representing their peers, and actively contributing to the decision-making process. They gained hands-on leadership experience through organising events and lunchtime activities, helping with student-led assemblies, and providing valuable feedback on school policies. Their leadership helped strengthen student engagement and foster a sense of ownership within the Year 7 cohort.

Year 7 students also played a meaningful part in welcoming Grade 5 students during their Experience Days, showing leadership and helping to build strong connections with future members of the KWRSC community. Engagement in whole-school events remained a highlight, with Year 7 participating enthusiastically in both the athletics and swimming carnivals. The cohort also excelled in sport, with the Year 7 Girls' Netball and Year 7 Boys' Football teams achieving the outstanding accomplishment of becoming regional champions.

As our Year 7 students prepare to transition into Year 8, we congratulate them on a year marked by growth, leadership, and connection. We wish them every success as they continue to develop their confidence, character and contribution in the year ahead.
