Host Family Opportunity: Italian Language Assistant Program

We're Looking for a Host Family

An exciting opportunity will be offered in Term 3, 2026, through the Western Australian Association for Teachers of Italian (WAATI). The Language Assistant Program has been well supported by many schools across WA and has achieved great success for many years. In 2025, Mazenod hosted a Language Assistant during Term 3. The experience was successful and proved rewarding for the students, the host family and the language program at Mazenod College.

The language assistant from Italy will be aged approximately 20 to 25 years old and may be male or female. Families have the opportunity to request which gender would suit their family best. The assistant will be here for the duration of the term and will work alongside the classroom Italian teachers to help enhance learning experiences for students. The responsibility of the host family is to provide all main meals and accommodation, some sightseeing and basic assistance with transport. In return, the language assistant will work at the school for 20 hours a week. Although there is no remuneration for the family or for the school, the experience has always been a rewarding one in the past.
