Game 1: Mazenod 7.1 defeated Leeming SHS (1st XVIII) 4.6
The team played two games this season, with one additional game forfeited by Lumen Christi. Our first game was played against Leeming Senior High School in Leeming. We hit the scoreboard first and managed to stay in front for the duration of the match. I want to thank the boys who made the effort to travel "down the hill" after school, and it was also great to see several parents there for support.
- Best Players: Luke D.G, Dexter C, Xavier M, Dom D, Kobi P, and Liam M
- Goals: Xavier M (2), Dom D (2), Luke B (1), Jackson G (1) and Sean G (1)

Game 2: Mazenod 3.3 defeated by Willetton SHS (1st XVII) 8.5
Home-ground advantage wasn’t quite enough to get us across the line this time. While Willetton’s forward line was solid, our backline performed exceptionally well; Cohen S. and Lincoln C. defended and tackled with great intensity.
Being down by five goals at halftime created a difficult situation to overcome, but we managed to get a few on the board thanks to some great efforts by Dexter C. and Luke D.G.
While an undefeated season was not to be, we all enjoyed the games we played. I personally enjoyed getting to know these young men outside of the classroom environment.
A big thank you to all the helpers and to Mr Mallon, who pretty much does everything -absolute legend!
- Best Players: Dexter C, Luke D.G, Cohen S, Dom D and Liam M
- Goals: Xavier M (1), Dom D (1) and Ethan H (1)

Tom’s Outstanding 2025/26 Athletics Season
Tom has delivered an outstanding 2025/26 athletics season, achieving impressive results across state and national competitions and demonstrating remarkable resilience, commitment and determination.
Competing in Mazenod colours, Tom claimed silver medals in both the 800m and 1500m at the WA All Schools Championships. These performances saw him qualify for both the 2025 National All Schools Championships and the WA State Team selection pathway for the 2026 National Junior Championships.
Despite sustaining a small calf muscle tear at the State Relays in December, Tom showed great focus and perseverance in his recovery. He returned to competition in excellent form, winning gold in the WA State 3000m Championships before going on to secure two further silver medals in the 800m and 1500m at the WA State Junior Championships.
Tom then travelled to Brisbane to compete at the National Junior Championships, where he represented himself, his family and Mazenod with pride. Competing in both the 800m and 1500m, he progressed through to his first national 800m final, achieving a long-held goal and finishing eighth in Australia. He followed this with another eighth-place finish in the 1500m, running close to his personal best in the 800m and recording a new personal best in the 1500m.
These achievements are a testament to Tom’s talent, work ethic and resilience, particularly given the injury setback he faced only weeks before Christmas. We congratulate Tom on a superb season and wish him all the very best as he recovers from a recent cold and turns his focus to the upcoming cross country season.
