Year 9 Tennis
Friday 7th March saw 13 Year 9 students compete at the Division Inter Tennis Day at Hume Tennis & Community Centre in Craigieburn. Both teams were very competitive against much stronger opposition, with many players coming away with singles or doubles wins, and both teams winning a rubber throughout the day.
Most importantly, our students displayed our college ARCH values and were commended by their opposition and officials as to their conduct on the day. We set high expectations in our sports program, and this is led by our Year 9 students who were nothing short of exceptional. Thank you for representing our college so well!
Thanks to Mr C and Miss Sarah B for coaching our teams.
Year 8 & 7 Volleyball and Cricket
3 teams represented the college on Wednesday 19th March in Year 8 Volleyball and Cricket. Both teams had followed the path set by our Inter teams by diligently training over the last few weeks and embracing our values-first mantra.
Our Girls cricket team played one short and had 3 Year 7 students to fill out the team. Despite these hurdles, they convincingly won both their pool matches by restricting the opposition with great bowling, and chasing down the runs required quickly. The team qualified for the final, and looked the winner for parts of the match, unfortunately going down to Kyneton in a tight contest. A huge shout out to Reet D, who took the first hat-trick for the college, and from all reports was remarkably close to a 4th and 5th wicket!
Both Volleyball teams were competitive and won both their first two pool matches to set up must-win clashes with Hume Anglican Grammar Donnybrook to finish top of the ladder and advance. The Girls teams were phenomenal, shutting out their opponents to win 2 sets to 0, while the boys went 1-1 before winning the 3rd set to take the match. This saw both teams finish 1st overall, and progress to the Northern Metro Region Finals in Term 4!
After the Inter teams produced a hugely successful day earlier in the term, this is undoubtedly the most successful single day our college sports program has had. This is a huge testament to our students, and staff, for their passion and dedication to the program, and we are very thankful to have such fantastic students to work with in the program. Well done to all students, and Casey Cesarin and Lui Foloi (Volleyball) and Rhys Kavadas (Cricket) for their efforts. Go Mickleham!

Grand Prix
On Thursday, March 13th, 119 students from our Year 9 cohort had the opportunity to attend the FORMULA 1 LOUIS VUITTON AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX at Albert Park in Melbourne as part of the learner driving program. Throughout the day, 20,000 students attended from over 350 schools. The overall Thursday attendance was estimated at 72,056, marking the highest Thursday attendance on record at the Australian Grand Prix!
After making our way to the Education Hub at the complex, students were exposed to a range of exhibitions, including helicopter simulators, Formula 1 driving simulators, and various universities showcasing different careers in motorsport and STEM industries, such as engineering, electrical, construction, design, and more.
Other presenters for the day included the Victorian Transport Network, Safe Transport Victoria, Fire Rescue Victoria, Karting Australia, Motorsport Australia, and Lunar Outpost Oceania.
A great time was had by all.
Year 7 & 8 Tennis Gala Day
On Friday, 4 teams represented the college in the last sports event for the term at the Mickleham Division Year 7 * 8 Tennis Gala Day. All teams competed well, taking match wins and overall round wins against other schools. Most notably, we were very humbled by the recognition our students received from their opponents and officials as to their sportpersonship and attitude with which they took to each game. We are very proud of all students who wore our college colours- in particular our Year 7 Girls team who won all pool matches and convincingly won their final to progress to the NMR Finals in Term 4. Well done!
Big thanks to Stephen Clogstoun, who has led our tennis program with outstanding outcomes throughout the entire team for all 6 of our teams, and Sarah Blenkiron for supporting our teams on the day.
