During English in Term 1, students have been developing creative pieces. Year 7 students have been writing a narrative based on the ARCH theme of Honesty. Year 8 students have been writing an interior monologue on Adam Goodes. And, Year 9 students have been changing and adapting a feature of Rumpelstiltskin based on their thinking and then justifying their changes.

Here are some examples of Year 9 narratives based on the alternation of a feature of the text.

Next term, our students are looking forward to developing text responses. Year 7 students will be working on myths, legends and folkore and will create solid TEEAL paragraphs. This will help them with essay writing in Term 3. Year 8 students will complete a text response essay on The Dons. Students will be required to read the book over the Term 1 holiday period and complete the activities with the support of parents/guardians. Year 9 students will complete a text response essay on The Outsiders. Students will be required to read the book over the Term 1 holiday period and complete the chapter questions with the support of parents/guardians.

By completing text responses and reading novels over the holidays, the school is preparing students for senior school by being able to work independently and ensuring the prerequisites have been met.

We are ready for a successful Term 2.
