FOOD TECHNOLOGY

Students have been engaging well with their Food Technology lessons towards the end of term 1. The year 8’s have been learning about food waste and why it is an issue that we should care about. In practical cooking lessons, the year 8’s have been making chicken dippers and chips and apple crumble. They are developing lots of important kitchen, teamwork and communication skills and we are looking forward to seeing these skills develop further. Next term, students will be designing their own burger recipe as part of learning about the design process.

The year 9’s have been learning about the design process and using this knowledge they are creating a multicultural pizza topping recipe. The students will cook their recipe in the second or third week of term 2. In practical cooking lessons, students have been creating multicultural dishes like Kitsune Udon from Japan and Wattleseed Scones using Indigenous Australian ingredients. Next term, students will learn about Fair Trade foods.

We look forward to seeing the engagement of students for the rest of term and semester!
