From the Director of Junior School

Mrs Melissa Thirgood

Dear Families,

Over the final weeks of this term, we have witnessed our students embrace many opportunities to showcase their talents beyond the classroom. From 32 students representing St Mary's at the Inter-Schools Cross Country, to 95 Year 5 and 6 students participating in the Primary Schools Netball and Football Round Robin Tournament; from 25 Year 6 students confidently persuading a range of audiences through debating, to 29 students expressing themselves through song in the Young Tasmania Sings performance as part of the Festival of Voices program; and finally, tomorrow, more than 160 of our Prep–Year 6 students will take to the stage to perform in the Southern Tasmanian Dance Eisteddfod.

We are incredibly proud of our students and the way they represent both themselves and our College at each of these events. Their enthusiasm, commitment, courage and sportsmanship exemplify the values we strive to nurture every day.

Of course, none of these opportunities would be possible without the dedication of our wonderful staff and volunteers, who generously give their time beyond normal working hours to organise, attend and support these events. We are deeply grateful for their commitment to providing such enriching experiences for our students.

We would also like to sincerely thank our families for their ongoing support. Whether it is helping with early starts, providing transport, attending performances and events, or encouraging your daughters to participate, your partnership plays a vital role in making these opportunities possible. Together, we create a community where our students are supported to grow, challenge themselves and shine. Thank you for all that you do.
