Our campaign concluded with the STCPSSA Cross Country Carnival held at Bayview Secondary College in Rokeby. Throughout the season, our interschool team delivered consistent performances across all carnivals, showcasing determination, commitment and school spirit. Every member of the team should be incredibly proud of their achievements.

A special mention goes to our All Schools Cross Country team: Tatum, Alice, Charlotte and Isla (Year 6) and Madds, Chloe, Evelyn and Florence (Year 4), who travelled to Symmons Plains for the state championships. The day began before sunrise, with the team leaving the College in darkness and arriving to a course that could only be described as extremely wet and muddy – a true cross-country track! Despite the relentless rain that fell throughout the day, our athletes remained positive and focused. Thankfully, our bus became the team’s headquarters, providing a welcome refuge between races, with athletes venturing out only when it was time to compete.

What stood out most was the remarkable resilience displayed by every runner. Faced with challenging conditions that tested even the toughest competitors, our team embraced the experience with enthusiasm and determination. Not a single complaint was heard all day – a true reflection of the character, grit and sportsmanship of our athletes.

Congratulations to all runners on a fantastic season. Your hard work, perseverance and team spirit have made the College proud.

More happy snaps from across the Term 2 rosters

Hockey | Full Field Hockey

Written by Brigid Shea

Full field hockey has had an amazing season. We were undefeated until the last roster match, otherwise, all wins and a draw. The girls are an outstanding bunch, full of grit and determination. They look after each other beautifully on field and off. We have rarely had a full team on the field!

Hockey | Half Field Hockey

Thank you once again to Sarah Thomas (Year 12) for coaching our Half Field hockey team. The Junior School has been incredibly fortunate to have Sarah as one of our junior hockey coaches since she was in Year 8. She began by coaching our Quarter Field teams and, for the past two years, has been a valued coach of our Half Field team. We are so grateful for Sarah's ongoing commitment, enthusiasm and the positive impact she has had on our young players over the years.

JSSATIS Netball | 5/6 Gold

Our SMC 5/6 Gold team deserves a very special mention. With limited players available for much of the roster, they have frequently taken the court a player short. Despite this challenge, the resilience, determination, and team spirit they have shown has been truly outstanding.

A special thank you also goes to Jayne Robinson (Year 9), who has trained and coached the team. Managing and motivating a team with such limited numbers is no easy task, and her dedication and commitment have been greatly appreciated.

A sincere thank you to Jodie Burke for stepping into the coaching role this season. Your time, commitment and dedication to the team have been greatly appreciated.

Thank you to our Year 12 coaches

Sarah Thomas (hockey), and Bella Carter and Arabella Butterworth-Barry (water polo), have dedicated countless hours to coaching junior teams throughout much of their secondary school and College years – an outstanding achievement and a testament to their commitment to sport and service.

As all good things eventually do, this chapter is coming to an end. As Year 12 students, Sarah, Bella and Arabella – at the end of this term – will complete their final roster as coaches before embarking on exciting new opportunities beyond the College. While we are thrilled for what lies ahead for each of them, they will be greatly missed by our junior hockey and water polo programs.

I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all three coaches for the enthusiasm, care, leadership and dedication they have brought to their roles year after year. Their positive influence on countless young athletes has been invaluable, and their willingness to give back to our sporting community has left a lasting impact. On behalf of the College and the many students they have mentored, thank you for your exceptional contribution. We are incredibly grateful for all that you have done.
