Student Shoutout

Shoutout to the grade 6s who represented at Gala Day this week! You have all made us very proud with your efforts on the sporting field!

We had 8 of 10 teams make it through to the next round! Well done to Boys and Girls Cricket, Girls Tennis, Girls and Boys Tee ball, Girls Basketball, Girls Volleyball, and Mixed Volleyball for all making it through!!

Preps

The Preps are focused on their high catching and their throwing after learning how to bucket catch. We are putting a large focus on tracking with the eyes and tilting our heads back so that students can see the ball and their hands. Students, when throwing, make sure they aim and follow through.

Grade 1s and 2s

Grade 1s and 2s have been applying their throwing and catching skills in games of yard cleanup. Students have been practicing high catching in pairs to allow for tracking and moving based on where the ball has landed.

Grade 3s and 4s

Grade 3s have been showing how much they have learned this term by playing full games of tee ball. Students have been showing their knowledge of the most dangerous base and the most dangerous striker.

Grade 4s have been introduced to the game of Danish Longball. They have worked their way up to a game through the mini-game Poison Ball, which has taught them to move the ball through teamwork rather than running with it.

Grades 5s and 6s

Grade 5s have been showing their knowledge of Softball, as well as the skills they have learned through it. They have been pitching with proper technique and, when striking, have been finding ways to maximize their runs scored.

Grade 6s have been continuing their movement analysis unit for the last 2 weeks, focusing on skills they use regularly in game situations. The students have enjoyed reflecting on their technique and have been finding ways to improve their abilities.

Team of the Week

Team of the week is a starting 11 of students who have shown the school values in all areas of PE. They may not always be the most talented, but they have the best attitudes and eagerness to learn in PE.
