Performing Arts News

Hi Tarneit Rise families,

As we come to the end of a busy and creative term in Performing Arts, we would like to celebrate the fantastic learning and progress across all year levels. It has been wonderful to see students building confidence, creativity and collaboration skills through music and performance.

Prep students have successfully completed their first term of Performing Arts, with a focus on exploring and experiencing a range of dance, drama and music activities. This fortnight our prep students were introduced to untuned percussion instruments, learning how to create and respond to different sounds. They showed great enthusiasm and curiosity as they experimented with instruments and began developing foundational music skills.

Grade 1 and 2 students have recently completed a two-week introduction to composition using untuned percussion. Students worked together to create short rhythmic pieces, making thoughtful choices about sound, timing and structure. It was fantastic to see their creativity and teamwork as they rehearsed and performed their compositions for their peers.

Our Grades 3 and 4 performing artists have reached an exciting milestone this fortnight by performing their class compositions. Students collaborated to develop lyrics and used the elements of duration and form and structure to compose an original song. They then added instrumental accompaniment and used rehearsal time productively, resulting in engaging and original performances. Their ability to work together, refine their ideas and present confidently has been very impressive.

Grades 5 and 6 students have completed their ukulele skills assessment, demonstrating their progress in technique, dynamic expression, rhythm and accuracy, as well as following basic notation. Students showed increasing confidence in their playing and a strong understanding of ukulele basics. It has been rewarding to see their growth over the course of the unit.

We would like to congratulate all students on their efforts this term, e look forward to another exciting term ahead.

Have a musical holiday!

Kind regards,

Mr Max, Mrs Patton, Mr Stanley and Mrs Andrew
