WAKAKIRRI

Dear Families and Students,
I have received the results of the Wakakirri Story- Dance Competition. Our school received a “Highly Commended Award” for our story – dance performance of “Your journey, Our story…”.
This is a such an amazing achievement for our students and our school, and we are so proud of our Wakakirri students. Whilst the award does not entitle us to go through to the next round, we will still cheer the other schools on and wish them congratulations, all the best and Chookas for their next performance!
A reminder of the feedback and achievements that we did receive from Wakakirri judges on the day of performance:

| Ambassador feedback |
| "An Insightful glimpse into the experience of migrating to Australia and how our family history impacts who we may become. Poignant & Brilliant Storytelling! A crucial story to tell and share about remembering our story and how it empowers us to build community and life. Honouring where we have come from and bringing that story into our story is vital part of creating a better and excellent experience in the future. The projection and narration was a great tool to assist in telling the story. The minimal props and set was perfect to show how much you can do with very little. So much of the story is how much a family can do with very little and how love goes a long way. The choreography was the perfect balance of simplicity to keep the focus on the story. " - Joti Van Carlos Gore, Wakakirri Ambassador. |
In the final week of Term 3 we will be able to download a copy of our performance – we will organise a time for students and staff to attend a viewing of the performance at lunch time.
Until then, I look forward to seeing the students at our pizza lunch on Thursday 20th August in H05 to celebrate our success.
Thank you as always for your support.
Louise Mercer
