Music Report

What an incredible Term 2 it has been for the Music Department. The most notable event that took place during Term 2 was the annual 'School Bands Extravaganza' event. This year's theme was 'The Best of British'. With 10 schools participating and 29 bands, it was a fantastic evening of British music from across the eras and genres. All schools gave incredible performances, but the true highlight of the evening was our own senior band, 'Red Road Sign', delivering an incredible performance of Bohemian Rhapsody by, Queen - including the operatic mid-section, which Queen have never performed live!

We also had the first of our instrumental soirees, piano and voice. These soirees are a great opportunity for the younger and perhaps less experienced students to perform and showcase their hard work throughout the year. Our voice and piano teachers, Jennie Mortimer and Bruce Sandell, did an incredible job preparing the students, with all performances being of a very high standard.

Term 3 promises to be another big term, with our school production of 'Rock of Ages' in Week 8 - Thursday, September 3 and Friday, September 4. Tickets will be available through TryBooking early in Term 3.
