Principal's Report

A message from the Principal

What a fantastic second half of Term 2 this has been. Our students have been focused on completing assessments, our Year 9–11 students have sat their mid-year examinations and we have also had many opportunities to come together to celebrate our students and our school community.

"Best of the British" Band Showcase

On Thursday 28 May, we hosted the "Best of the British" Band Showcase, where students from ten schools came together to demonstrate their musical talents and celebrate one another, with an impressive 29 bands performing throughout the evening. Government, independent, primary and secondary schools gathered in our Theatre and performed with brilliance and flair. The enormous talent demonstrated by every band, and the skill of each young musician, were simply magnificent. The evening was not about competition or rivalry, but rather a celebration and appreciation of the remarkable talent on display.

Last week was our annual Cultural Diversity Week, and the whole-school Assembly was a wonderful celebration of what makes our school such a remarkable place. We gathered to celebrate one another, embrace our differences and demonstrate true inclusion. The Cultural Dress Parade was the largest we have ever had and was a joyful reflection of our diverse community. The week concluded with the Colour Run, where our Year 7 and 8 students had a wonderful time running through the school grounds, while being covered in vibrant rainbow powder.

The Year 12 Formal took place on Friday 20 June at The Lincoln of Toorak. It was a spectacular evening, and our Year 12 students looked elegant and sophisticated. They danced the night away and created memories that will last a lifetime.

Year 10 Work Experience is taking place this week, providing our students with the opportunity to learn about the world of work, understand employer expectations, explore potential career pathways and experience learning in a real-world context. This experience will assist students in making informed decisions about their future pathways during the Course Counselling process in early Term 3. I personally sign every Work Experience Agreement form and was impressed by the breadth and diversity of placements secured by our students, reflecting the thoughtful consideration many of our Year 10 students have given to their future aspirations.

Semester 1 Reports will be published by the end of this week. Our hybrid online and onsite Parent-Teacher Interviews will follow on Thursday 30 July, and I strongly encourage all parents and carers to arrange appointments with their child's teachers. The partnership between school, student and family is integral to student success, and regular communication is an important part of fostering this relationship. Please take the opportunity to meet with your child's teachers to discuss their achievements and identify areas for further growth and development.

I wish all of our students and families an enjoyable and restful break. Take this opportunity to reconnect with one another, rest and recharge, and return refreshed and ready for a successful Semester 2.

Warm regards,
