Literacy

To finish the term, we have learned the letters L and V and revised some of the letters introduced throughout Term One.

The words we have been reading and writing include: van, lit, bib, and hat. We have also been practicing sentences such as “Is it his cab?” and “Sit him at the mat!”

Children have been introduced to punctuation marks including full stops, question marks, and exclamation marks.

Wellbeing

This week in Wellbeing, our students have been learning ways to cheer others up and boost their own mood. They’re creating fun drawings that show actions they can take when they’re feeling a little down.

We also asked them to think about the activities that make them feel happy and calm, both inside the classroom and out on the playground. It’s wonderful to see our students noticing the small things that help them and their friends feel better!

Reminders

Satchels

Students have received their flashcards, Boomerang Book, and a decodable reader to support their reading at home. Please ensure your child’s satchel is returned to school each day.

There is a QR code inside your child’s Boomerang Book which allows you to access Little Learners Love Literacy books online for additional reading practice at home.

Library

Please send a named bag with your child on their library day so they can bring a book home to enjoy. Students have received a red material bag from their teacher which would make a great library bag!

Library Times:

Prep C Mondays

Prep A, B , D, E Thursdays

**Please note Prep C will change their library time to Thursdays in Term 2**

Shoelaces

We have noticed there are many children who come to school with laces. If they can't tie their laces, it is recommended they have velcro shoes. Here is a video to assist with learning to tie laces.

Toileting Before School

Please remind your child to use the toilet before school so that their learning is not interrupted in the morning session.

Spare Clothes

Please ensure your child has a change of clothes, including socks, in their bag.

Attendance

At Skye Primary School, we value every day of learning and work in partnership with families to support strong attendance, connection and wellbeing for all students.

Establishing strong attendance habits early is key to a successful start to school. We encourage our Foundation students to attend every day to build routines, friendships and confidence in their learning.

A Day of Teddy Bear Adventures!

Our little ones had an absolutely magical time at the Teddy Bear Picnic! Everyone walked together to the park, where we enjoyed a sunny picnic under the shade of the trees. Laughter filled the air as the children played on the playground, making the most of the fun equipment. The day wouldn’t be complete without a special keepsake, so we captured the moment with a big group photo of all the children and their beloved teddy bears. What a joyful day full of smiles, giggles, and teddy bear cuddles!

Inspire

The Preps have been enjoying their fortnightly Inspire sessions in the Prep building. We have been coming together for an assembly before exploring and playing in all the Prep classrooms, as well as spending time in the playground on nice days. These sessions have provided students with opportunities to explore different learning spaces and build new friendships.

Cross Country

On Friday, the Preps enjoyed running in their first Cross Country event. The excitement was evident from the start, with students eagerly lining up and cheering one another on. They showed great determination and enthusiasm as they made their way around the course, doing their very best and celebrating their achievements at the finish line. It was wonderful to see their positive attitudes, teamwork, and growing confidence throughout the event.
