Connect: Year 3
February 2026
What a fantastic term it has been! We are incredibly proud of our students and the effort they have shown across so many wonderful experiences. From tackling NAPLAN with resilience, to giving their all at cross country, enjoying the Brainstorm Productions performance, and celebrating together at Harmony Day and our Easter Bonnet Parade. Add in school photos and the exciting start of our new Friday Inspire Groups, and it’s safe to say this term has been extra special.
Grade 3 you should all be extremely proud of all you have achieved so far!

Kitchen Garden
There have been plenty of happy, hungry faces in the kitchen over the past few weeks as our Grade 3 students have been busy creating delicious dishes using the freshest produce. They are really thriving in our Kitchen Garden program, enjoying the balance of caring for the garden and chickens while building confidence and independence in the kitchen. It’s been wonderful to see their pride in looking after our school and trying new skills along the way.
Here’s what some of our students have had to say about their Kitchen Garden experience:
"Kitchen Garden is the best because you can eat lots of different kinds of food"- Rose 3A
"I love Kitchen Garden because you get to learn how to cook safely and if your parents don't have enough time to teach you at home you can learn it here"- Catherine 3A
"I like Kitchen Garden because Mrs Furlong is the best teacher"- Alice 3A
"We always make yummy food and learn how to be safe in the kitchen"- Blair G 3A
"The stuff we do in the garden is really fun and the food we cook is delicious"- Kai 3A
"I love it because you can try new things"- Charlotte N 3A

Literacy
Students enjoyed reading the true story Pierre the Penguin and completed a variety of engaging activities inspired by the text. Check out their waddle-fully cute penguins below!

Maths
In Maths, our students have been exploring different strategies to solve addition and subtraction problems, and we have seen their confidence grow immensely. Yesterday they had a fantastic time playing a fun board game where they solved addition, subtractions and multiplication questions to move ahead—there was lots of excitement, teamwork, and learning along the way!

Clean Up Skye Day
After lunch the students went outside and participated in Clean Up Skye Day where they made Area 4 sparkle. It was a wonderful opportunity for students to show respect for their environment and appreciate the importance of taking care of the spaces we all share.

Easter Parade
Our Easter Parade was egg-stra special, with students showing off their super creative hats and big smiles! Despite the noise, they were incredibly resilient and hopped their way through the parade, all having the best time.

Wellbeing
At Skye Primary School, we value every day of learning and work in partnership with families to support strong attendance, connection and wellbeing for all students.
As students move into the middle years, consistent attendance becomes even more important. Every day counts in supporting academic growth and maintaining strong peer connections.
Year 3 Attendance Rate: 94%
