Connect: Year 5

Dear Families,

As we reach the end of a busy and rewarding term, we are proud to reflect on all that has been achieved across Year 5. It has been a highly successful period of learning, with students demonstrating enthusiasm, resilience, and growth in all areas of the curriculum.

Throughout the term, students have worked diligently and embraced a range of opportunities. They approached NAPLAN with focus and determination, represented the school with great sportsmanship during the Lightning Premiership, and showed impressive effort and perseverance at the Cross Country event.

Next term, students in Year 5 will engage in a range of exciting learning opportunities across the curriculum. In Numeracy, the focus will be on developing understanding of fractions, time, and decimals.

During Literacy sessions, students will explore the novels Black Cockatoo and Dirrarn, using these texts to examine Aboriginal perspectives and culture. They will also undertake character analysis and continue to build their sentence-level writing skills.

Science will be a key focus throughout the term, with students learning to describe animal habitats and investigate how animals adapt to their environments.

In Wellbeing, students will explore the topic of Personal and Cultural Strengths and Problem Solving. Students will Participate in the following lessons:
