Every Day Counts: Why Attendance Matters

At Skye Primary School, we know that regular attendance is one of the most important factors in a child’s success at school, not just academically, but socially and emotionally as well. When students attend school every day, they build strong relationships with their peers and teachers, develop a sense of belonging, and stay connected to their learning.

Even missing a small amount of school can add up quickly:

This term, our whole-school attendance rate is 94.2%.

We are proud of the efforts of our students and families in prioritising attendance and building positive routines. We understand that there are times when students are genuinely unwell or there are exceptional circumstances. However, we encourage families to aim for attendance every day wherever possible, as consistent attendance helps students:

  • Keep up with classroom learning
  • Maintain friendships and social connections
  • Build confidence and independence
  • Develop positive habits that support future success

Thank you for your ongoing support in ensuring your child attends school regularly and arrives on time. If your family is experiencing challenges with attendance, please don’t hesitate to reach out, we are here to work in partnership with you.

Together, we can ensure every student is given the best opportunity to thrive.
