Term 1 Careers News Highlights

This term the Careers team has supported a large number of students seeking careers advice on TAFEs, universities, apprenticeships, and work experience placements. We would like to acknowledge students’ hard work and determination across all their studies in Term 1 and their interest in their future pathways. 

Early in the Term we had Christine Panagiotou from Hume Whittlesea LLEN, visit us and run an SWL Placement Workshop for our Year 11 and 12 VM students. The workshop outlined placement requirements and where and how students can seek first placements or placement changes. 

Year 12 Big Day Out was held at RMIT City Campus and gave students the opportunity to learn about university courses, what an ATAR looks like, planning for the future and what to tackle each Term to stay on track.

A group of Year 10 students were very lucky to attend the 2025 Grand Prix, where we explored the Careers Innovation Hub and watched the Schools STEM Challenge finalists present their projects on Hydrogen fueled car designs. It was a great day and one we look forward to again next year. 

Mrs Berzins took a small group of students down to The Hume Global Learning Centre on Monday the 24th of March to be a part of the first stages of design for the Kangan TAFE build here in Sunbury. The Kangan TAFE is set to open in July of 2028. Along with Salesian College and Sunbury Downs, Kangan kindly invited us to have input into the initial stages of the design. Students were able to share ideas on what makes a positive and interactive learning environment for young people and what their priorities are. It was a great day to be a part of and we look forward to the build and having further input over the next couple of years.

Year 11 2025 VCE and Careers Expo - Friday 2nd May

Year 9 Students have Morrisby Profile Assessment - Monday 5th of May.

Year 10 Work Experience - 10th to the 20th of June.

My Career Portfolio (MCP) - Ongoing with all year levels
