Year 7 and 8

Junior School
Year 7
Year 7s have finished off their first term of secondary school with so much positivity. Along with their busy days filled with classes, lunchtime basketball games, and friends, they have been showing us what respectful and resilient people they are in their day to day interactions with peers and staff.
They worked incredibly hard completing their NAPLAN tests for Reading, Writing, Numeracy, and Conventions of Language, and we were all so impressed by their focus and conduct throughout these tests.
Year 7s have also been working their way through some local excursions to the Hume Global Learning Centre. This has been a fantastic opportunity for students to explore a valuable resource in their area, have some fun, and acquire some library cards.
Term One of Year 7 has been filled with such enthusiasm and energy, and the entire LP7 team is so excited to see what the rest of the year will bring for this group of young learners. A huge congratulations to every single Year 7 student for their efforts this term and for making such a positive start to their high school journey.
Excursions
The walking excursions to the local library with the Year 7 students over the last few weeks filled with fun and learning, have been a huge success. Many of our students were excited to receive their very own library cards, marking the beginning of their journey with this wonderful local resource. Students dove into an engaging stop-motion Lego activity, where they had the chance to create short films, sparking their creativity and teamwork. To top it all off, the students participated in a library treasure hunt, which helped them familiarise themselves with the library’s layout and resources in a fun and interactive way. The mornings were both educational and enjoyable, leaving the students eager to return and explore the library further.
Thank you to all the Year 7 teachers who accompanied our students on this exciting local excursion.
Year 8
Term 1 has been an exciting and action-packed start to the year for our Year 8 students, with a major highlight being the camp to Forest Edge. Students embraced the adventure, taking on challenges such as river sledding, the twin flying fox, high ropes, rock climbing, and the crate climb—just to name a few!
The fun continued into the night with board games and an electrifying Games Night. In teams, students competed in a series of challenges, including races, an ice-cream eating contest, Minute to Win It, and Just Dance. The energy, teamwork, and competitive spirit made for an unforgettable experience.
Camp provided students with opportunities to build resilience, strengthen friendships, and step outside their comfort zones. It was fantastic to see their enthusiasm and willingness to take on new challenges.
Throughout the term, students have excelled, modelling our College values of Respect, Resilience, Responsibility, and Endeavour in both their learning and interactions.
We look forward to Term 2, under the direction of a strong oordination team, with our key foci on attendance, organisation, academic excellence, and building positive relationships.
