CONGRATULATIONS - 100 Days of Prep!
We have had a brilliant day so far celebrating all the things we have achieved so far this year. Thankyou for coming in this afternoon and creating some special memories with us. We will share some photos on Seesaw.
Literacy
In Phonics, we have been learning about how 2 letters make 1 sound. Our focus has been on 'wh', 'ck' and 'th'. Students have continued to build words, by segmenting them into sounds, recording the sounds and then blending those sounds together to write the words. It is incredible to see the progress students have been making and creating longer and longer pieces of writing. Students letter sound knowledge has also supported students ability to read different decodable texts. We have been developing our fluency by reading in phrases or grouping words to make it flow smoothly. This will support students to comprehend what they are reading.
In Litearcy, we have been learning about fairy tales and narratives. Students have been explore the Story Mountain to map out stories we have been reading and using it to create our own narratives. By using the Story Mountatin, students identify the key parts a story that they must include to make a good story.
Numeracy
In Numeracy, we have been learning all about teen numbers. A teen number is any number from 11 to 19. As being made up of "one full group of ten" and "some extra ones." We have explored how tens frames can help to show what a teen number looks like. Once we learnt what teen numbers looks like, we have been practicing putting teen number in the correct order and being able to recall the number before or after.
Humanities
In Humanities, we have begun our unit about Discovery. Students will discover the properties and uses of different materials and use words to describe them. They will learn to make and test predictions and compare their results with their predictions.
Reminders
Changing of library books and decodable books every Friday.
Thanks,
Ash and Dee
