French Day

What an incredible day celebrating the culture of France! Students engaged in Football, miming, French circus skills, French rosette making, Petanque and a French dance party. The costumes, the joy and the incredible effort put in by families, teachers and students was an absolute testament to the culture of Moriac Primary School. Thank you for embracing the day and I hope your children spoke as fondly as I did going home that night!

Prep

This term has begun by increasing our French conversations. Students are learning how to say what they do and don't like. They have been cutting and pasting from magazines, searching and finding using French dictionaries to create lists of their likes and dislikes, searching for the French word to label and pronounce. In the coming weeks students will turn their lists into sentences, creating their own books to bring home and share.

Year 1/2

This term has begun by increasing our French conversations. Students have been consolidating their vocabulary of recalling colours, numbers and animals. We have used a listen and draw activity for students to add images based on the French word they heard.

Students are also learning how to say what they do and don't like. They have been cutting and pasting from magazines, searching and finding using French dictionaries to create lists of their likes and dislikes, searching for the French word to label and pronounce. In the coming weeks students will turn their lists into sentences, creating their own books to bring home and share.

Year 3-6

This term we will explore some popular French sports and later in the term students will choose a sport and a famous player of the sport to further research. Students will be able to showcase their learning by creatively sharing their sport with peers, selecting from a range of sharing options. Students have been looking at the history of Football, the famous French player Mbappe as well as developing understanding of breaking down a ball skill into smaller steps and coaching others. Students have been keen to look at the other top ranking sports in France and brainstormed which sports they think are in the top 10. Students have continued to  engage in Duolingo with some students maintaining their daily streak since the start of the year!Â
