Kindness Campaign

What a term we are having at Hillsmeade with students demonstrating outstanding kindness! I am so proud of everyone for their enthusiasm in demonstrating kindness both in classrooms and out in the yard. Our canteen voucher raffle at assembly is hotly anticipated each fortnight and it has been lovely to see students be rewarded and share how they earnt their ticket in the raffle. Keep going everyone - let's make kindness our number one priority!!

Family-Teacher Conversations

Don't forget! 

Family-Teacher Conversations are just around the corner. Monday 7th and Tuesday 8th September you will be able to book a time to meet with your child's teacher to discuss their progress and ongoing reporting tasks. You will be able to book online via Compass from Monday 24th August.

This semester we will also be trialling a different approach to specialist bookings. Our specialist teachers will be providing Learning Conversations in the library for families to visit and learn about the various subject areas and offerings. Whilst you are there, you are invited to chat to the teachers about your child and their progress. No bookings are required for specialist teachers anymore.

We look forward to welcoming you all to the school over those two evenings and working together as a team to support your child and their school experience.

Prep 2027

Applications for enrolment in Prep next year have now closed. We are excited to welcome our new students and families to the Hillsmeade team. If you have accepted our offer you will have received a welcome letter. Please stay tuned for the next update via email about our transition session dates and times, that will occur in Term 4. It sure is an exciting time!

Congratulations

A big congratulations to our Tournament of Minds participants who competed in their short and long term challenges at Deakin University on Saturday 15th August. It was a terrific team effort and a very comedic performance too!

Echoes of Country 

On Monday 17th August our Koorie Club students attended Bunjil Place for the first 'Echoes of Country' Day. It was a busy day, starting with a smoking ceremony followed by a range of group tasks including pot planting, physical challenges, connecting with country and art activities. Our students were able to connect with students from across the Casey network with students from both primary and secondary attending. It was a momentous and special day for all involved!

Book Week & Book Fair

Reminder: this Monday 24th August at 9am is our Book Week Parade & Open Morning!

Students are asked to come dressed as a book character and will participate in a parade with their classes on the basketball courts. Following this we will welcome visitors into classrooms to participate in a book related activity with their children. Looking forward to a fun day ahead!

I would also like to extend my gratitude to our school community for your support of our annual Book Fair. This was the first time we had used Scholastic and found their range of texts and items available to be extremely popular! Happy reading everyone!!

Year 4 Camp

I'd like to wish our Year 4 students all the best as they head off to Phillip Island Adventure Resort next week for camp. I am sure there will be some amazing experiences and stories for our students to share with us all upon their return. Have the best time Year 4!
