Whole School Assembly
Justice Seeker
Our Term 3 assembly fell on R U OK Day and also coincided with visitors from Gawa Christian School on Elcho Island. It was a great opportunity to bring together the different ways we can seek justice in our world.
Rachel Herweynen, the Principal from Gawa CS shared what it means for her to seek justice through her work in a remote indigenous community. We also heard from Year 10 how they sought justice for those in modern day slavery through the recent Ping Pong-A-Thon, how justice is sought through 50 years of NAIDOC and the R U OK movement.
Our students once again shone as they shared examples from their learning about justice – from our junior primary students’ learning about justice with the availability of fresh water to the Art competition in which students were able to ‘Create to Advocate’ for their own cause.
We know this assembly inspired many of us to explore more ways we can help those experiencing injustice!
