Grevillea House

Hi everyone! I’m Abi, the SRC for Grevillea 8. Over the past 3 terms, I’ve really enjoyed being a part of the Student Representative Council. I’m glad that not only my voice is heard, but my peers, friends, and fellow students can also share their ideas and suggestions for our school.

I would like to begin by welcoming everyone back to the last term of the school year, and congratulating everyone for all their hard work this year.

Although this term has only just started, so much has been happening- on October 15th, we had our Festival of Art and Design. We had presentations from students who study DEA, Product Design, Art, Visual Communications, Media, Food Design, Drama, and Music, so there was something for everyone to enjoy on the night. It was great to see some of our most talented students able to share and express themselves through their artwork, as well as all of the incredible music performances throughout the night from our students in music classes, musical ensembles, our orchestra, some of our vocal soloists, and from both our Junior & Senior Rock Band! The night finished with a raffle and some awards that were given to students who went above and beyond with their artwork, and a huge thanks, and congratulations to everyone for making it such a beautiful night!

Continuing on a musical note, on the 20th of October, our school hosted the SEVR Junior Battle of the Bands! Our school’s Junior Rock Band, ‘The Band From Dand’ had not only the opportunity to host this extraordinary event, but also perform on the day, and participate in the competition. As one of the singers of Junior Rock Band, I had the honour of performing on stage, and although we didn’t win, we were all really proud of our performance, and we had a lot of fun!

For our Year 12’s final week, they got students to sign their shirts, they went to Gumbaya World, had a Pyjama Day, and of course, signed off during the Farewell Assembly on Thursday. To all our Year 12s, good luck with exams, and have fun in your future endeavours!
