On Monday the 15th of September, Ms Lewis and Mrs Gazibaric’s Year 10 Art classes joined together to visit the National Gallery of Victoria to see the Winter Master Piece Collection called The French Impressionism from the Museum of Fine Arts Boston. It was such an eye opening experience. I didn’t expect to see so many famous art works in real life, and it felt different compared to looking at them online. The gallery space had 7 rooms that were different in size, and the way the artworks were displayed made me think more about the time and culture they came from. I enjoyed being able to walk around with my classmates and talk about our own opinions, and it gave me a new appreciation for how art connects to history. Overall, the excursion was not only interesting, but also made me realise how much there is to learn outside the classroom. We had a great day looking at art and spending time with our friends from the classes.

On Mon 15th September, some of our wonderful Year 10 students had an opportunity to attend the NGV to view the Impressionism Exhibition. Students were excited to view up close the artworks of many well-known artists that were displayed as if they were in wealthy Boston homes of the era. Students were able to see how much work is involved in organising such an exhibition which had 10 separate rooms and over 100 hundred artworks that followed different themes for each room. The colours for each room also played an important role to capture some of the colours from the artworks. They were able to view how majestic some of the Boston homes were with antique couches and adorned with beautiful chandeliers.
In all our students will have a long-lasting impression of such an exquisite exhibition and have gained further understandings regarding where artworks originally came from and how they were housed in private homes.

Our Year 9 students were learning about painting last term. They were given the opportunity to work traditionally or digitally, where they learnt to mix colours and have learnt about various techniques that artist use. They also researched artists and developed ideas for their paintings. Please enjoy some of the artworks in progress.
We hope that you attended our ARTS/DDT Expo at the start of Term 4, which allowed our school community to have the opportunity to see their final artworks.
