Literacy

We are approaching the exciting milestone of completing our letter learning, and the students are thrilled with their progress. To celebrate this achievement, we will be hosting an Alphabet Party on Wednesday, 18th June. In addition to this celebration, we are currently reading The Gruffalo and engaging in a variety of fun activities related to the book. The students also wrote a recount of their exciting incursion, sharing their personal experiences and highlighting which animals they particularly enjoyed holding and patting.

Maths

Currently in Maths the Preps are learning to:

Identify partitions of numbers to 10
Identifying how many more to make 10
Quantify and compare collections to 10
Learning directional words, left and right

Next in Maths, we will be focusing on numbers to 20.

Inquiry

As part of our "Great and Small" unit, the Prep students explored the life of the Monarch Butterfly. They discussed its journey through the forest and the reasons it migrates to warmer climates during the winter. Additionally, students learned about the butterfly's feeding process, specifically how it uses its proboscis to extract nectar from flowers.

Wellbeing

During our Wellbeing lessons, students reflected on their emotions in various areas of the school. They identified which emotional zone they were in and explored the reasons behind their feelings.

Reminders

Satchels

Each child has a take-home reading book in their satchel, which should be practiced daily along with their Boomerang book. Kindly ensure that the satchel, reading book, and Boomerang book are returned to school each day. Additionally, each child has their login details in their Boomerang book, granting them access to Little Learners Decodable Readers online.

Toileting Before School

Please remind your child to use the toilet before school so that their learning is not interrupted in the morning session.

Spare Clothes

With the wet weather upon us, please ensure your child has a change of clothes, including socks, in their bag. Please label all items with your child’s name.

Wildlife Incursion

Our Wildlife Incursion was a fantastic experience for students, providing them with the opportunity to engage with a variety of Australian animals. They learned about the animals' natural habitats and how to care for them responsibly. Following the incursion, students completed a written recount, reflecting on and consolidating their learning from the day.
