Literacy
We are continuing our study on Ancient Greece and Rome. It's now time to look at the Ancient Olympic Games and the contests that inspired the Modern Olympics. There are many events that are in the games today that can be traced back
We are still writing Information Reports. After writing excellent Reports on an Animal and a Household Item of their choice, we will all be choosing a Place in the world that most interests them. Personally, I would choose Italy to write mine on. I was lucky enough to visit there many moons ago. I would write about the History, the Food, the Culture, the Architecture, the Art and the Passionate People. We will learn a lot from each other. Who knows, someone might choose Romania (which I know nothing about, but after reading this person's Information Report, I'll be well informed!
Maths
We are moving into Number Patterns, which is closely aligned to Algebra. If students can identify the pattern, they can use a formula to calculate any equation using the rule of the pattern. With the applied side of the subject, we are looking at geometric shapes and their properties.
Inquiry
In 'Museums in Motion' we are going to be learning off each-other. As our research skills develop, we will be continuing to learn about Early Colonial Australian History. We have been working in pairs looking at different events that have had a dramatic effect on this part of Australian History.
Wellbeing and Inter Relate
Inter Relatehas been a very educational and informative experience for our students. They have been learning about Respectful Relationships and how to respect their own bodies and what consent means. I encourage you as parents and carers to speak to your children about what they have learnt.
It's been amazing to see the positive impact that our Berry Street Educational Model has been having on the students. I find that they are more focused, less stressed and have a much higher regard for the value of their learning and the integral part that they play in this themselves. We start everyday with a Morning Circle, which is a fantastic routine that we are in. It provides the students with a calm, fun, non-threatening environment from the minute they walk in the door. We greet each other, outline the day, focus on our values that we deem to be important, enjoy each other's announcements and have a fun activity that sets us up for a positive day of learning.
