UPCOMING LEARNING:

LITTLE LEARNERS

In the next fortnight of learning, students will be revising the sounds they have taught this year. Teachers are busy assessing the students to see the wonderful progress they have made. So far, we have been very impressed. This is a credit to their hard work. Don't forget you can access the Little Learners decodable books at home. if you have lost the password your child's teacher will be happy to give you another copy.

WRITING:

The students have been learning all about adjectives and how they can add more interest and detail to their writing. An adjective can change a sentence in many ways eg:

The black cat.

The cheeky cat.

The tiny cat.

The sad cat.

NUMERACY:

Over the next fortnight, students will continue to use their understanding of partitioning to develop concepts of addition and subtraction through words and stories with concrete and pictorial representations. Students are introduced to the concept of 'difference' using bar models to support their thinking.

INQUIRY:

In Inquiry, Grade 1 students will continue to create an idea of what 'community' is including how it feels to be part of a community and why it is important for developing a sense of belonging and identity. Student will identify features of their local community to reflect on what services are available in emergency situations and their roles in maintaining a safe community.

Wellbeing:

Students will be looking at coping strategies and what it means to be resilient. Each day our morning circle focuses on our Skye values and how we can make our classroom a positive space.
