Free Dental Visit

The Smile Squad, which is the Victorian Government's school dental program, will be coming to our school during Term 3 or 4. The service will provide a free check-up including the following services -

  • Examination

  • X-rays

  • Cleaning

  • Fissure sealants

  • Fluoride varnish application

The Smile Squad will then return later in the Term to complete any further dental work identified during the check-up.

This second visit would provide the following services

  • Fillings

  • Stainless steel crowns

  • Extractions

Any further complex treatment needs would be referred back to our base at Monash Health

If you would like your child to access the dental service you must complete the consent form.

This can be found in the attachment and you can access this and submit the consent using the QR Code or the link.

Paper copies will also be available in each of the Houses for students to collect.

If you have questions you can contact the school and speak to Mr Ogden.

Japanese Sister School Visit

Dandenong High School has long enjoyed a sister school relationship with Sakuya Konohana High School in Japan. Part of this relationship is the exchange program which sees Dandenong students visit Japanese and students from Japan visit our school. These visits are a fantastic opportunity for the students involved, improving their language learning, building cross-cultural understandings and creating international friendships.

Last year, after several years of not being able to, Dandenong hosted 17 students from our sister school. This was a great experience for all the students who hosted, in particular the students who then visited the school a couple of months later and were able to see some familiar faces.

This year, we have another group of 17 students from Sakuya Konohana High School visit us from July 22nd to 31st. Students will require a home stay arrangement for the duration of 9 nights. We are currently looking for expressions of interest to host one of these students.

Homestay providers will need to be able to get students to and from school, provide a safe space for the student to sleep and keep their belongings, and provide meals for the student for the duration of the stay.

Can I please request that, if you are willing to support the program by hosting a student, you fill out this Google Form: https://forms.gle/6Gge68Q171jswWAU9

If you require further information, please do not hesitate to contact the school.

Hi everyone,

As you may have seen on Compass or in your email, we are looking forward to having 17 students from our Japanese sister school, Sakuya Konohana High School, visit us in July. However, to make this happen, we need some of you to help out and host some of the Japanese students.

Last year, a group of students in years 7-12 from our school hosted some of the Japanese students and had the most amazing time! We went on excursions and spent time with the students inside and outside of the school. Throughout our time together, we learnt a lot about the Japanese language, culture & customs, and we got to meet new people!

Some of the highlights from last year included:

  • Watching the bird show at Healesville Sanctuary,

  • Going to the Queen Victoria Market to buy souvenirs, food and other cool items,

  • Going gold panning, buying sweets from the lolly shop and going to the night show at Sovereign Hill,

  • Cooking ANZAC biscuits with the Japanese students and teaching them all about Australian culture & society,

  • Spending the weekend with the Japanese student staying with us. Some of us went to Phillip Island, while others played sports, watched movies and cooked traditional food.

They are highly respectful to you and the room/area they go in.  They show their gratitude with gifts and are always excited to get to know you better.  If you don't have a room, you could buddy up with your siblings, and your room can be for them. Plus we get free food, and they are always willing to make friends!!!!!!!

Students from any year level at our school can host, so if you can host, make sure to put your name down on the form sent out on Compass & email.
