LRC News

We recently had a visit from Manga artist Kenny Chan in the LRC. He worked with junior students, teaching them how to draw faces in Manga style. Kenny shared about his career, his motivations and gave his best tips. The students really enjoyed being creative and designing their own Manga characters.
We are currently learning about the significance of Reconciliation week, which runs from 27th May to the 3rd of June. The theme this year is “Bridging Now to Next”. This reflects the ongoing connection between past, present and future. It calls on all Australians to step forward together, to look ahead and continue the push forward as past lessons guide us.
We have had lots of different activities happening in the LRC at break times. Students can do:
mindful colouring
jigsaws
play Uno or Chess
join a lunch time club such as: boardgames, Lego or craft club.
If you are looking for something to do at break times the LRC is a great place to meet your friends and do an activity.
Lastly, our junior reading challenge continues. We have had 4 students complete the challenge thus far and they have earnt $5 canteen vouchers. Students are required to read and record 9 new books from different genres in our library and show their English teacher or Miss Sharon. Please come and see the library staff for book recommendations. Happy reading 😊

It has been a busy few weeks in the library and the place has been ‘buzzing’ as the weather has been cold, and we are full most days. The library is still running activities during the week. So come in and help with a jigsaw, play a game of chess or UNO, do some colouring or assist one of the staff with shelving or displays.
Before the end of the term, we are promoting ‘Warm Winter Reads,’ and have seen lots of books being borrowed for holiday reading. This maybe a good time to remind people of any overdue books they may have, and to pick up one or two for the holidays.
