 Boys and Girls School Sport Victoria Upper Hume Basketball Tournamen

 

Eighteen of our Year 9 and 10s visited the Wodonga Sports & Leisure Centre yesterday for the School Sport Victoria Upper Hume Basketball tournament.

 

Our boys finished 5th of nine teams with a 2-2 record which included wins over Wodonga Middle Years Huon (32-22) and a 1-point nail-biter at the buzzer (34-33) against Victory Lutheran College.

 

Captain and 2-season VJBL player Oskar McGahanand and fellow Warriors Lachlan Downing and Nick Dark Jr formed an experienced leadership group, guided by current Warriors coach Troy Lewis.

 

The 11-strong girls team fought hard all day across 3 matches, led by captain Tahlia Houston. 

MVP was awarded to Year 9 and top scorer Ellouse Jones, who the night before had been crowned the U15 Netball League MVP at the Ovens & King vote count.

 

Other players highlighted in a team of talented all-rounders were Bella Boulton (speed and defending), Taylah Wyatt (3-point shooting) and Inanay Gilson (inspirational competitiveness).

 

The day also gave recently arrived Exchange Student from the Denmark, Alba, a memorable taste of Aussie school sport.
