Valedictory 2023

On 16th November, after all exams had been completed, the Class of 2023 came together to celebrate their Year 12 graduation and to recognise the hard work and dedication of each and every member of the cohort. It was wonderful to see all students in attendance walk across the stage and proudly collect their graduation certificate! We were treated to some thoughtful words from AFLW star Georgia Nanscawen (Class of ‘10) who before transitioning to her AFLW career, played 205 games for the Hockeyroos where she won a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in 2014 and silver medals at Champions Trophy in 2009 and 2014, and the World Cup in 2014. Georgia spoke of the ways in which she processed setbacks and ways in which she was able to overcome setbacks and importantly, she impressed upon the Class of 2023 the need to enjoy whatever it is they do and to follow their passions.

Many subject awards were presented on the evening, as well as a number of very special awards that aligned with our school’s values and we also heard from the 2023 Valedictorians - Alessandro Papaleo and Eloise Fleming. It was heart-warming to see so many students receive individual awards but it was equally heart-warming to see a number of students be rewarded on a number of fronts! The night concluded with Ben Morcos reading a poem that he began writing at the beginning of the year but returned to as the year progressed - a truly remarkable way to end the year.
