Sports 2023
The interschool sport program in 2023 has played a critical role in offering students the opportunity to contribute meaningfully in the same way that the diversity of the extra-curricular programs is offered at the school. It allows students the opportunities to form new relationships, meet new friends, overcome challenges, and experience the value of being part of a team. This offers a lot of enjoyment to every student involved and supports the overall development we hope for in our students.
So far this year, we have seen 17 teams win through to the regional finals and 3 making it through to the state finals!

A few highlights of the year so far within the sport program include:
- Our UHS swim team this year won the Inner North Region title which meant it was back-to-back years we have won! Some incredible efforts from so many swimmers. A huge congratulations to all the swimmers involved. Beating out of 80 schools within the northern metro region!
- The overall success of our sporting teams this year has been outstanding with 17 teams progressing through to the regional level competition after beating out all other schools within our division. This is reflective of the dedication and their ability in their respective sporting pursuits.
The role of student coaches and helpers has been very successful once again this year. These roles offer students the opportunity to give back to the school in mentoring their junior counterparts by providing guidance and leadership to the Year 7 & 8 students to ensure the success of the teams throughout the year. Student coaches and helpers are also able to develop a range of skills like communication, organisation and problem-solving that are valuable beyond their schooling years. A big thank you must go to every student coach and helper that has committed their time to support sport right throughout the year.
Congratulations and well done to every student that was involved with the sport program this year. Over 950 students at UHS compete, which is just amazing. As a school, we have proudly represented the core values of fair play, respect and sportsmanship in victory and defeat. It is always a pleasure to see students compete in the right spirit and provide their effort at every level of competition they come across.
A big thank you must again go out to all the staff who generously gave up their time and commitment to support the sport program this year in making the program as successful as it is!
