Science at BPS

What a term and what a year we have had in Science at BPS! 

A huge thank you to our Science and Sustainability captains, Jessie and Kaori for the work they have done in the science room and especially for  Science day in Term 3.

It has been very enjoyable recently as we looked back and reflected on  the variety of learning experiences students have participated in this year. It has been so good to see how competent students are at completing steps of the scientific method when conducting an experiment and evaluating if their hypothesis was anywhere near the results that actually happened.

Students have enjoyed some messy experiments, revisiting old favourites, researching scientific discoveries and the people who made them - both  in past history and more modern times, as well as looking at how science has changed the world and  building on their varied existing knowledge to deepen their understanding of the world around us. 

Questions have been thoughtfully posed and sometimes we found an answer and sometimes we haven't - yet.....  We made mistakes and sometimes wrongly (and hilariously) predicted how an experiment would go - all in the name of science. 

I have been so impressed with the enthusiastic attitude our students have shown when trying new things and working with sometimes unknown tools or materials. 

It has been so enjoyable to watch the students approach each topic and share their connections and experiences to broaden each others awareness of how the world around them works. I am so excited to continue on this journey of scientific discovery in 2026.
