Grade 3 & 4

Term 4, Week 10

What a term it has been! As we reach the end of an exciting and fast-paced final term, it’s worth pausing to look back at just how much our Year 3/4 students have achieved. They’ve worked hard, supported each other, and continued to grow as learners and young leaders in our school community.

Across the term, students engaged deeply with their learning and showed real pride in their

progress.

Literacy:

Students built confidence as writers, focusing on planning, drafting, revising and publishing their work. From persuasive pieces to narrative writing, they demonstrated a growing understanding of structure, sentence fluency and strong vocabulary choices. In reading, they explored a range of texts and continued to develop comprehension skills, discussion skills and reading stamina. Students are excited to be sharing their Writer’s Gifts with family and friends at the end of the year.

Maths

This term had a strong focus on additive thinking, statistics, algebra and problem-solving. Students worked through hands-on learning and rich tasks that encouraged reasoning and multiple strategies. It has been great to see students become more confident in explaining their mathematical thinking, not just sharing answers.

Inquiry

Our inquiry learning encouraged curiosity, questioning and critical thinking. Students investigated real-world concepts, made connections to their own lives, and worked collaboratively to present their findings. Their effort, teamwork and growing independence were clear throughout the process. It has been inspiring to see students solve challenges and experiment with ideas through the design thinking process, and we have loved seeing the way they have made positive changes to their individual learning spaces.

A highlight of the term has been watching students support each other as friends, classmates and leaders. Circle time, team projects and collaborative learning helped build resilience, confidence and respectful communication. The growth in independence, from organisation to mindset, has been noticeable and worth celebrating.

As the year ends, we are incredibly proud of how much each student has achieved—not just academically, but also socially and emotionally. Their enthusiasm, humour, creativity and persistence have made our classrooms vibrant and inspiring places to be.

We wish all students moving into Year 4 and Year 5 next year the very best. We encourage them to keep asking questions, keep taking risks in their learning, and keep being kind.

Thank you to families for your support, partnership and encouragement throughout the year. It truly makes a difference.

Have a safe and happy holiday break. We look forward to seeing you all next year!
