Problem Solving in Action!
Our Junior School students have recently begun engaging in rich and challenging problem-solving activities during Mathematics lessons.
Working both collaboratively and independently, students have been tackling multi-step worded problems designed to strengthen their reasoning and critical thinking skills.
Students are applying a clear problem-solving strategy to guide their thinking. This includes identifying key information, deciding which mathematical operations are required, selecting appropriate strategies, and checking the reasonableness of their answers.
It has been wonderful to see students actively “acting out” problems, using concrete materials to model their thinking, and exploring different approaches to reach solutions.
Hands-on learning has helped students visualise concepts and build confidence in explaining their reasoning.
