Principal's Report

Dear Parents, Carers, Students, and Staff

It is a pleasure to share that there is a vibrant energy currently buzzing within and beyond our classrooms. We have officially moved past the "start of year" rush and transitioned into a well settled learning environment. Walking through the corridors and classrooms, it is heartening to see students deeply engaged in their studies, demonstrating the focus, teamwork, and curiosity that define our school culture.

Our senior students recently returned from their study camp at Melbourne University, and I am pleased to report it was a positive scene setter for Year 12. Staying on campus provided our Year 12 students with a tangible glimpse into tertiary life, as did dinner in Lygon Street on Sunday evening; while the intensive workshops helped them refine their study techniques for the year ahead. The maturity and dedication shown by the cohort were exemplary.  I thank Alan Richardson and Greig Ward, two highly successful alumni, for giving of their time to run workshops and share their wisdom with our Year 12 students.

We are committed to providing tailored pathways for every student. This term, we are proud to introduce two significant curriculum developments:

  • High Achievers Program (SOAR): Designed to challenge and extend students with high academic potential through inquiry-based learning and advanced coursework, including undertaking university subjects during VCE.
  • Applied Learning (Years 9 & 10): A hands-on, practical approach to the curriculum that connects classroom theory with real-world skills, ensuring our kinaesthetic middle-schoolers remain motivated and career-ready.

Additionally, through student voice and agency, two of the new Year 9/10 electives have commenced with a bang, with several of our Dance students auditioning to join the production cast, and our Outdoor Education students learning how to surf.

The excitement is building for our Year 7 students as they prepare for their upcoming transition camp. This is a pivotal moment for building friendships and developing teamwork skills outside the classroom. Please ensure all medical and consent forms are returned via the parent portal.

Our Performing Arts Department is working tirelessly on this year’s production of Peter Pan. With more than 60 students auditioning to join the cast and the upcoming incredible set designs to the soaring rehearsals, it promises to be a magical experience. Keep an eye out for ticket sales—you won’t want to miss this flight to Neverland!

Get your white t-shirts ready! Our upcoming Colour Run is set to be our biggest fundraising event of the year. It’s a fantastic way to support school improvements while enjoying a day of fitness and (very) colourful fun. Information on how to sign up and collect sponsorships will be sent home this week.

  • School Council Elections: Involvement in the School Council is a wonderful way to contribute to our school’s strategic direction. We are currently seeking nominations for parent and community representatives. If you are interested in shaping our future, please contact the General Office for nomination forms.
  • Study Club: A reminder that our Study Club is running every Thursday afternoon. Staff and high achieving graduates are available to provide extra support in a quiet, collaborative space.
